Nomada zonata is a bee from the family of Apidae . The females of the species resemble Nomada rhenana .

features

The bees have a body length of 7 to 9 millimeters (females) or 6 to 8 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the females are black and drawn in red. The tergites are basal black, the disc is more or less red or completely black. The second to fifth tergites have yellow spots, their end edges are dark. The labrum is dark and has a tooth in front of the middle. The third antennae is shorter than the fourth. The heavily humped scutellum is red or yellow. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are blunt and have two long, fine and three short, thick thorns. The head and thorax of the males are black and yellow. The tergites are black and have yellow spots and reddish end margins. The labrum is yellow. The second antenna element is completely sunk into the shaft, the third element is significantly shorter than the fourth. The slightly humped label is black. The rails of the hind legs are blunt, have bristle hair and about four thick thorns.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in southern and central Europe. The animals fly in two generations from early April to early August. They probably parasitize Andrena confinis , Andrena congruens and Andrena dorsata .
