history

The Nonseum presented since 1994 in a building constructed in the style of a village Weinviertler censure exhibition building 250 " inventions that we do not need"; this is the definition of the Nonseum. Already in 1984 and 1985, the later Nonseums team held national nonsense inventor fairs. The word "Nonseum" is a suitcase word made up of "nonsense" and "museum".

Since 2000, as part of the project “crazy village Herrnbaumgarten” (colloquially from crazy , meaning to look at the world from a different point of view), more and more Nonseum objects have been positioned in the public space of the community, such as the “final resting place for the Wackelstein ”, the“ Monument for the Living ”or the“ Single Sock Memorial ”. Accommodation providers and restaurants are also gradually being integrated into the project.
