Sergei Gorlatch

Sergei Gorlatch (actually Sergej Gorlač ; born August 27, 1957 in Kiev ) is a Ukrainian computer scientist and professor of practical computer science.

Life

After completing his mathematics and computer science studies between 1974 and 1979 at the University of Kiev, Gorlatch became a research assistant and later a project manager at the Institute for Cybernetics of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in his hometown. Until 1990, his tasks also included the development of software for the Soviet computer type ES-1766. In 1984 he received his doctorate.

Gorlatch had worked at the University of Munich since 1991 and at the University of Passau between 1992 and 1999 . There he completed his habilitation in 1998. In September 2000 Gorlatch was appointed to the chair for parallel and distributed programming at the TU Berlin .

Since 2004 Gorlatch has been a professor for practical computer science at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

He made a name for himself especially in the area of parallel and distributed systems .
