The Norasia Friborg class of the Swiss shipping company Norasia Lines is a series of container ships without hatch covers .
details
The ship's design is designed as a largely hatch-free container ship without its own loading gear and deckhouse arranged aft. The container capacity is 3429 TEU . The holds of the ships do not have hatch covers , but the open holds were fitted with lightweight removable rain covers that could be attached to the upper end of the cell guides on deck.
The ships are powered by a 7 UEC 85 LSC seven-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine made by Mitsubishi. The engine enables a speed of around 22.5 knots . The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster . Striking is the bow with its cover on the back .
In 1993 the first unit of the series consisting of six ships was put into service and in the same year the ship's design was voted Ship of the Year by specialist journalists . By March 1996 the series was complete and at least in the first years of operation the planned transport advantages of the concept were fully confirmed.
