Norbert Linke

Norbert Linke (born March 5, 1933 in Steinau / Oder , Lower Silesia ) is a German composer and musicologist .

Life

During his school days in Celle, Norbert Linke composed the singspiel Der Nachtwächter (based on the farce by Theodor Körner ) and instrumental works in March 1952 . From 1952 to 1959 he studied composition with Ernst Gernot Klussmann and Philipp Jarnach at the State University of Music in Hamburg . During the Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music (1962–1964) he took the “finishing touches” from Pierre Boulez , György Ligeti and Karlheinz Stockhausen . From 1962 to 1972 he was a teacher at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Hamburg , before he worked as a lecturer and professor in music teacher training at the FHS Darmstadt until 1976 . He is best known for chamber music, as well as vocal and orchestral music. Linke has received numerous composition prizes (Hilversum, Darmstadt, Hamburg several times, Hof, Munich, Bonn), including the 1977 Johann Wenzel Stamitz Prize (Stuttgart). Since 1971 he has been a full member of the music section of the Free Academy of the Arts Hamburg . From 1976 until his retirement he taught as a full professor for music at the University of Duisburg-Essen , Duisburg location.

His pseudonym is Aaron Aachen.

Norbert Linke was the first chairman of the " German Johann Strauss Society " from 1985 to 1991 and has been an honorary member since 2013.
