Norbert Mnich (born April 18, 1966 , † September 30, 2016 in Kluczbork (Poland)) is a former Polish table tennis player . At the 1985 World Cup and the 1986 European Championship , he was third in the team competition.

Career

Norbert Mnich was six times Polish team champion with the AZS Gliwice club. He was nominated for the 1985 and 1987 World Championships . He won bronze with the Polish team in 1985, and in 1987 came fifth with the team. He was also involved in the team's bronze win at the 1986 European Championship .

In 1992 Norbert Mnich moved from the Polish club AZS Gliwice to Germany for the regional league team GTV Hohenacker. Since then he has competed in several German clubs:

On September 30, 2016, Norbert Mnich collapsed during a team fight in Kujakowice, a district of the Polish city of Kluczbork, and died.

Private

Before starting his professional career in Germany, Norbert Mnich studied mechanical engineering in Poland and is a German citizen .
