Norbert Nowotsch

Norbert Nowotsch (* 1948 in Herten , Westphalia) is a German media scientist , media designer and author. Until 2013 he was a professor in the design department at Münster University of Applied Sciences .

Life

From 1966 to 1970 he did an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk ( Chemische Werke Hüls ; Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg Marl / Haltern ). From 1970 to 1974 he studied sculpture , environmental design and audiovisual media at the Münster University of Applied Sciences ; then media studies , sociology , art studies at the Universities of Münster and Osnabrück .

From 1977 to 1987 he taught in the media studies department at the Universities of Osnabrück and Münster. Since 1980 he has been developing media project concepts for companies and TV broadcasters as well as event and exhibition projects. From 1982 to 1994 he was also the managing director of a media production company, where he also worked as a director of photography. From 1987 he was professor in the design department at Münster University of Applied Sciences.

His main research interests in the 1980s and 1990s were interface development, cross-media developments and "hyperfilm" as well as critical media theory, and since the end of the 1990s increasingly media exhibition and presentation design, media in (urban) space.
