Norbert Otto (born January 6, 1943 in Erfurt ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He was elected to the People's Chamber of the GDR in 1990 and was then a member of the German Bundestag until 2002 .

Life

After completing secondary school, Otto completed an apprenticeship as a road builder , which he finished in 1961. He then studied at the Schleusingen / Cottbus University of Applied Sciences, from which the Brandenburg Technical University emerged in 1991, from which he graduated as a graduate engineer. This was followed by 18 months of basic military service. He worked as a department head at the city administration of Erfurt in the field of technology / road construction and in the civil engineering department until he was elected to the People's Chamber of the GDR on March 18, 1990.

Otto had already joined the CDU of the GDR in 1964 and was local association chairman in Erfurt-Nord from 1984 to 1990 and district chairman of the CDU Erfurt from January 1990 to 1994. In December 1989 he was a co-founder of the citizens' committee in Erfurt. He was a member of the People's Chamber until October 2, 1990, and on the following day he was a member of the Bundestag due to the reunification. There he was the transport policy spokesman for the CDU / DA parliamentary group. In 2002 he left the Bundestag.
