Norbert Seitz (* 1950 in Wiesbaden ) is a German sociologist , university professor and non-fiction author .

Life

Norbert Seitz graduated from high school in Mainz, studied sociology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and received his doctorate in philosophy in 1982 with the dissertation Progress - Happiness - Utopia, Critique of the Social Democratic Idea of ​​Progress in Past and Present . From 1986 to 1988 he worked as a press officer at the Städtische Bühnen Mainz and from 1989–2005 as the chief editor of the magazine Frankfurter Hefte in Bonn and Berlin. From 2007 to 2013 he was the cultural editor (essay & discourse, Das Kultur talk) at Deutschlandfunk in Cologne. From 2010 to 2013 he taught as a lecturer at the Institute for Political Science and Sociology at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . Since 2014 he has been a freelancer for Deutschlandfunk and since 2015 a lecturer at the Institute for History at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Norbert Seitz has been a juror for many years at “ Non-fiction books of the month ” from the Literary World , WDR5 , Neue Zürcher Zeitung and ORF Radio Austria 1 .

He is an appointed member of the German Academy for Football Culture .
