Norbert Sulyok (born September 18, 1967 ) is an Austrian police officer and politician ( ÖVP ). Sulyok was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 2005 to 2015 .

education and profession

Norbert Sulyok attended the elementary school in Kohfidisch from 1974 to 1978 and then the local secondary school. In 1982 he moved to the BORG Güssing , where he graduated in 1986. Sulyok then did his military service as a one-year volunteer and from 1987 was a contract soldier and trainer in Vienna - Donaustadt .

In 1988 Sulyok was called up to the State Gendarmeriekommando Styria after the entrance examination in Graz , where he passed his service examination with distinction in 1989. After serving at the gendarmerie posts in Marz, Oberpullendorf and St. Michael, he attended the central gendarmerie school in Mödling, which he also graduated with honors. Then he was appointed deputy to the post commander in Großwarasdorf . He was then the youngest deputy post commander in Burgenland and the second youngest in Austria. He is currently a clerk at the Oberwart District Police Command.

Sulyok was elected to the local council of Kohfidisch in 1997 and was deputy mayor of the municipality from 2002. In addition, Sulyok was ÖVP local party chairman from Kirchfidisch. In the municipal council and mayor direct election in October 2007, Sulyok won the election with 59 percent of the votes against the previous mayor of the municipality of Schuch (SPÖ) and was elected as the new mayor of the municipality. Sulyok was able to win a majority in the local council with the ÖVP. In 2012 he was confirmed as mayor with 70.3 percent and was able to achieve a two-thirds majority in the municipal council.

In addition to his work as mayor, Sulyok is also active at the ÖAAB and is currently the ÖAAB chairman in the Oberwart district. and also regional chairman of the ÖAAB. In addition, Sulyok has the function of deputy chairman in the Burgenland Association of Municipalities in the Oberwart district .

From October 25, 2005 Sulyok was a member of the Burgenland Landtag and in the XIX. and XX. Legislative period Member of the Agriculture Committee and member of the Immunity and Incompatibility Committee. Sulyok was also the area spokesperson for commuters and employees. In the state elections in 2005 and 2010, Sulyok was able to achieve the preferred vote in the Oberwart district.
