Norbert Wolf (born September 4, 1933 in Husum ) was Secretary General of the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB / 1982–1990), the German Sports Association (DSB / 1990–1994), the German Olympic Society (DOG / 1994–1998) and the Association of German Olympic Participants (GDO / 1994–1998). He was honorary president of the European Non-Governmental Sports Organization (ENGSO), the association of the national umbrella organizations of sport in Europe (1992–1995).

Life

After graduating from high school at the Hermann Tast School in Husum (1954), Norbert Wolf studied German and sports at the University of Marburg (state examination in 1961) and then taught German and sports at high schools in Gütersloh, Bielefeld and Detmold (1961–1965). In 1965, the German Sports Association brought him to Frankfurt / Main as head of the science and education department, before taking on the aforementioned general secretary positions from 1982. At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he headed the office of Willi Daumes , the President of the Organizing Committee. From 1971 to 2003 he was one of the editors of the quarterly publication "Sportwissenschaft", 2001/2 guest lecturer at the European Business School (EBS) in Oestrich-Winkel, previously, during his professional time, also at the universities of Frankfurt / Main, Heidelberg and Tübingen .

He has been married since 1960 and has four children and four grandchildren. Since 1983 he has lived with his wife in Liederbach am Taunus.

Scientific work

Norbert Wolf not only excelled in terms of organization, but also through scientific publications. His interest was in school sports , the associations with special tasks, sports for people with disabilities. He also campaigned for the seminars of the Church and Sport working groups .

Further honorary positions

In table tennis Norbert Wolf was as a sixth-former county warden of North Friesland (1952/53), then the district youth officer of East Westphalia-Lippe (1962-1965), later a member of the Technical Committee of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the World Table Tennis Association (1986- 1990). In university sports, he was a sports advisor at the University of Marburg (1958–1960), Vice President (1959/60) of the General German University Sports Association (ADH) and its "head of discipline" table tennis (1965–1975); As a delegate for table tennis, from 1984 to 2002 he headed the Technical Commission Table Tennis of the Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU), the world association of university sports. During his full-time DTTB time (1982–1990), Wolf was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the DSB.

Trivia

Since 1946 until today Norbert Wolf has played table tennis in clubs and a. at VfL 1860 Marburg in the Oberliga Südwest, the then (1956) highest German league. He won numerous district and district championship titles as well as second and third places at state and regional championships from the youth to the senior classes. In 1955 he was with the Marburg university team in the final of the German University Championships. At the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt from 2003 to 2006 he worked as a supporting actor (first valet) in 48 performances of Georg Büchner's "Leonce and Lena". Since 2012 he has headed the literary circle in the culture ring of his home town of Liederbach. He writes "casual poetry"; two of his poems, counterfactors to classical poems, were published in 2011/12 in the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT.
