The North and West German Broadcasting Association (NWRV) was from 1956 to 1961 an association of North German Broadcasting (NDR) and West German Broadcasting (WDR) with the purpose of broadcasting a joint television program. The NWRV had its seat in Hamburg , Rothenbaumchaussee 132-134.

history

At the beginning of the 1950s, political processes took place in the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia , Lower Saxony , Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein that were last involved in the North West German Broadcasting Corporation (NWDR) , from which in 1955 the NWDR was finally split into the WDR for North Rhine-Westphalia and the NDR emerged for the other three countries, with the new stations starting on January 1, 1956.

The state treaty between the four countries for the dissolution of the NWDR provided that initially only the radio programs were operated independently. The television program should continue to be hosted by a joint body of the two broadcasters, which is why they founded the NWRV. Since no managing director was found at first, between January 1, 1956 and March 31, 1956, the NWDR, which was in the process of dissolution, was officially the organizer of the television program; from April 1, 1956, the NWRV was then responsible for television programming in the four countries .

The state treaty stipulated a period of five years for this solution, which could have been extended. However, such an extension was not carried out, so that the NWRV was dissolved again on March 31, 1961 and responsibility for the television program was transferred to the NDR and the WDR itself.

The NWRV's best-known film productions were:
