The north bridge Marktheidenfeld is a road bridge in Lower Franconia that spans the Main at river kilometers 180.870 . The structure has two lanes and a footpath and bike path on the north side and is intended to relieve the old Main Bridge as part of a north bypass of the town of Marktheidenfeld .
The 306 m long bridge was built between 2001 and 2002 for 11 million euros. It consists of a western, 106 m long foreland bridge with three openings, a southern, 65 m long foreland bridge with two openings and the 135 m wide river bridge. The structure is based on a total of 38 bored piles.
The approach bridges are prestressed concrete structures with a two-web T-beam cross- section .
The river bridge consists of a steel arched bridge construction . However, the hangers are not arranged vertically, as usual, but diagonally and crossed. This type of bridge is also called the Nielsen Bridge after the inventor . The carriageway slab is designed as an approximately 2.0 m high composite structure . With a total width of 16 m, the bridge has a total construction height of 24 m. The arches arranged on both sides have a constant width of 1.2 m, the height varies between 0.8 m in the apex and 1.5 m in the transom.
The main bridge was assembled on the bank next to the pillars. Then this construction was pushed into its final position with a mass of around 1000 tons. Self-propelled platform trucks and pontoons were used for this purpose. Semi-prefabricated slabs with in-situ concrete supplementation were used to produce the reinforced concrete deck.
In October 2011, the connection to the B 8 to the Marktheidenfeld junction of the A 3 and the 2312 state road was completed.
