history

Since the 19th century, the municipality of North Rheda -Ems has belonged to the Rheda Office , which was founded in 1843 in the Wiedenbrück district of the Prussian province of Westphalia . The community, which emerged from two farmers , was a scattered agricultural settlement and did not have its own town center. After the city of Rheda left the Rheda office in 1863 and became vacant, Nordrheda-Ems was the only municipality in the Rheda office. It was co-administered by the city of Rheda. The office of Rheda was abolished in 1934, making the municipality of North Rheda-Ems vacant.

By the Law on the reorganization of the district Wiedenbrück and parts of the district Bielefeld most of of Nordrheda-Ems was on January 1, 1970, a village of the town of Rheda-Wiedenbrück. Some parcels of land from the Rheda Forest in the vicinity of the Wapelbad came to the city of Gütersloh. In 2004 the city of Rheda-Wiedenbrück decided to revoke the local status of North Rheda-Ems. Since then, Nordrheda-Ems has belonged to the district of Rheda and no longer has its own mayor .
