Norma Thrower
Norma Claire Thrower (Norma Claire Austin-Thrower; born February 5, 1936 in Adelaide , South Australia ) is a former Australian athlete .
Thrower won the gold medal in the 80-meter hurdles at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff in 1958, ahead of the Englishwoman Carole Quinton (silver) and the Australian Gloria Wigney (bronze). At the Australian Championships she won silver in 1951, bronze in 1953 and gold in 1955, 1957 and 1959.
At the Olympic Summer Games in Melbourne in 1956 , she won the bronze medal behind the Australian Shirley Strickland (gold) and the German Gisela Köhler (silver).
