All volumes of the Almanac Nornan (1874–1907)

Nornan is the name of a Swedish almanac that appeared from 1873 to 1906. Nornan contained mainly literary and art historical contributions and appeared shortly before Christmas for the following year. AF Skoglund was the publisher until 1885, after which he appeared at Z. Hæggström with Georg Nordensvan as the responsible editor. From 1903 Johan Bergman worked as editor.

The content was a mixture of literary texts, poems, travelogues and essays. Many well-known authors increased the popularity of the almanac, including: Vilhelm Ekelund , Gustaf Fröding , Bertel Gripenberg , Ola Hansson , Frans Hedberg , Verner von Heidenstam , Erik Axel Karlfeldt , Emil Kléen , Ellen Key , Selma Lagerlöf , Anne Charlotte Leffler , Oscar Levertin , Uncle Adam , KG Ossiannilsson , Viktor Rydberg , Elias Sehlstedt and August Strindberg . In addition, Anders Zorn , Carl Larsson and Bruno Liljefors often enriched the content.

From 1876 the almanac contained a review of literature, and from 1877 also on the visual arts of the previous year.

Under Nordensvan's editorship from 1886, the younger generation of authors also had the opportunity to contribute to the almanac, while at the same time the graphic contributions were treated on an equal footing with the literary. It was precisely the representations of art that set Nornan apart from other almanacs. Nornan's greatest competitor was the Svea -Almanach published by Albert-Bonnier-Verlag .
