The North Crillon Glacier is a 20 km long glacier in Glacier Bay National Park in the Panhandle of Alaska (USA).
geography
The glacier's nutrient zone is located at an altitude of about 1,600 m between Mount Orville in the north and Mount Crillon in the south on the western flank of the southern Fairweather Range . From there, the glacier flows out of the mountains in a predominantly west-southwest direction. It eventually reaches the Fairweather Fault and turns north-northwest. Shortly afterwards it ends at Crillon Inlet , the south-eastern side bay of Lituya Bay , which opens to the open sea. The average glacier width is 1200 m. The South Crillon Glacier runs parallel to the North Crillon Glacier further south .
Glacier development
The North Crillon Glacier has been retreating more and more in recent years. Around 2010, the glacier tongue was only washed around by sea water during the flood.
