North wales
North Wales ( Welsh Gogledd Cymru , English North Wales ) is the name of an unofficial region in Wales . It essentially comprises the historical domain of the medieval Kingdom of Gwynedd in north Wales and roughly corresponds to the present day Principal Areas of Wrexham , Flintshire , Denbighshire , Conwy , Gwynedd and Anglesey .
The outstanding tourist attractions of North Wales include Snowdonia National Park with the highest mountain south of Scotland and the two UNESCO World Heritage sites Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the castles and city walls of King Edward in Gwynedd . The latter includes in particular the castles Beaumaris Castle , Caernarfon Castle , Conwy Castle and Harlech Castle built by Edward I (England) in the 13th century .
