Nostradameus is a Swedish power metal band from Gothenburg that was formed in 1998.

history

The band was formed on May 12, 1998 by guitarist Jake Fredén and singer and bassist Freddy Persson. A short time later, drummer Gustav Nahlin and guitarist Erik Söderman joined the band. Together they recorded their first demo on December 5th and 6th, 1998. In 1999 the band reached a contract with AFM Records . She then went to Gain Productions studio in December to record her debut album Words of Nostradameus . Five months later, the album was mixed by Mikko Karmila at Finnvox Studios . The album was released in 2000. After that, Nahlin and Söderman left the band. In addition, Persson now decided to concentrate only on the vocals. Jesse Lindskog joined the band as drummer, Michael Åberg as guitarist and Thomas Antonsson as new bassist. In May 2001, the band went back to Gain Productions and recorded the album The Prophet of Evil , which was again mixed in the Finnvox Studios by Mikko Karmila. The publication took place in August. In June, drummer Lindskog was replaced by Esko Salow. After that, the band performed at the Wacken Open Air and the Göteborgskalaset in August. From 2 November to 8 December, the band held together with Edguy a tour of Europe .

In the summer of 2002, work on the third album called Third Prophecy began in the Keg House Studio . In September, Fredrik Nordström mixed the album at Studio Fredman . After the release in January 2003, the band went on a four-week European tour with Hammerfall . After that, the band worked on the new album called Hellbound , which was recorded at Roasting House in Malmö . In November and December 2003 it was produced, mixed and mastered by Anders Theander and released in autumn 2004. In 2005, songs were developed for the Pathway album . The album was recorded at Roasting House from May 15 to September 2006 under the direction of Pontus Lindmark . Guitarist Michael Åberg left the band during the recording. The solos on the album come from him, the other parts were recorded by Lennart Specht.

The album was released in January 2007. A tour of Europe with Jon Oliva's Pain followed in the spring . In addition, the band held a small tour of Romania in May . After that she worked on a new album.

In 2009, Nostradameus released the album Illusion's Parade .

style

The band plays classic, fast-paced Power Metal that is compared to the music of Hammerfall .
