Not on Top is the seventh music album by Herman Düne .

Not on Top was released in 2005 on the British label Track & Field and on the French label PIAS and is classified as part of the anti-folk genre. It was recorded at Hall Place Studios in Leeds .

Music genre

The album was recorded in the monophonic form, which is rarely used as a musical stylistic device . The content of the lyrics is funny and at the same time melancholic, which suits the romantic mood of the album. Characteristic for the album are the extraordinary instrumentation and the polyphonic chants of the guest musicians. The singing and the ukulele play of the Canadian guest musician Julie Doiron as well as the unusual use of the recorder should be emphasized .
