The Notebooksbilliger.de AG (short NBB , own letters notebooksbilliger.de AG ) is an online mail order company for laptops as well as smartphones, tablets, PCs, displays and consumer electronics.

history

The company was founded in 1989 by Arnd von Wedemeyer, initially as a sole proprietorship for the development of software. In 1996 the name was changed to C&P Network Consulting GmbH. In 2000, the IT system house for business customers and public clients founded a branch in Karlsruhe . In 2003 another was built in Potsdam . In 2001 an online shop for notebooks was opened under the domain www.notebooksbilliger.de. In November 2008 the name was changed to Notebooksbilliger.de AG .

The most important company division is the dispatch of notebooks and mobile devices via the mail order company notebooksbilliger.de and for Austria via notebooksbilliger.at.

At the OnlineHandel 2012 congress, notebooksbilliger.de received the award as Germany's most popular online shop for computers and consumer electronics. The award is based on a customer survey carried out by the Institute for Retail Research at the end of 2011 with 10,059 consumers on the quality of online shops.

Under the name Team Notebooksbilliger.de , the company founded its own professional cycling team and a junior cycling team in early 2006. After the Tour de France 2007 , the company announced the end of its cycling activities at the end of the year. In 2012 there was a notebooksbilliger.de team (mountain bike), which was disbanded at the end of the year.

In the 2007 financial year, the company recorded sales of over 200 million euros for the first time with sales of EUR 208.4 million. In 2008, notebooksbilliger.de AG generated sales of EUR 270 million, making it one of the ten internet retailers with the highest sales in Germany. After stagnating sales development in 2009, notebooksbilliger.de AG recorded a sales increase of 25 percent in 2010. In the 2011 financial year, sales grew by around 36 percent to 379 million euros.

In 2011 Notebooksbilliger.de AG had an average of 195 employees. The head office is in Sarstedt near Hildesheim. The 3500 m² central warehouse is also located there. Further locations are in Berlin, Potsdam, Munich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf and Eggenstein. The first stationary shop was opened in March 2010 in Munich .

Since the end of 2010, PC systems and, since 2012, notebooks have been sold under the NBB brand , an abbreviation of the actual name. Since spring 2012, its own energy drink has also been marketed under the name Raubtierbrause , and it is distributed both via the Notebooksbilliger.de online shop and its own website. The one-way deposit that is usually incurred for beverages in one-way packaging is circumvented with the predator shower by adding whey, which means that the drink can be declared as a dairy product.

At the beginning of October 2012, Notebooksbilliger.de announced the cooperation with the ElectronicPartner group, which in this context acquired a minority stake in Notebooksbilliger.de. In 2012 the company was the third largest online retailer in Germany, behind Amazon and Otto.

In the summer of 2013 notebooksbilliger.de opened its third store nationwide in Düsseldorf. In the same year, the sales mark of EUR 500 million and in 2014 the EUR 600 million was exceeded. Another store is planned to open in Hamburg in mid-2016. In mid-2020 there were shops in Berlin, Dortmund, Munich, Düsseldorf, Hanover, Hamburg and Stuttgart.

At the end of September 2018, notebooksbilliger.de announced the merger with the stationary retail brand Medimax , whereby the former founder Arnd von Wedemeyer returned to the board. At the end of November 2018, however, these merger plans were rejected again.
