Notre-Dame-des-Flots is a Roman Catholic parish church in Léchiagat, a district of Treffiagat ( Finistère department ). The building is one of the most unusual architectural monuments in Brittany , as the church was built using material from several church ruins. The bell tower and west gable of the former St-Jean chapel in Leuhan have been classified as a monument historique since 1926 .

history

The parish church of Notre-Dame-des-Flots was built between 1958 and 1960 according to plans by the architect Yves Michel. Large parts of the masonry come from the ruins of the St-Herbot chapel in Le Trévoux . The tabernacle also comes from there . The listed west gable and bell tower of the St-Jean Chapel in Leuhan were placed in front of a southern entrance hall. A portal in the Flamboyant Gothic style comes from the old rectory of Plonéour-Lanvern . The ruins of the facade of a burned down house in Plomeur provided stone material for the sacristy. Other stone material for the new church comes from the ruins of the Lan-Fiacre chapel in Mahalon .
