Novomatic Forum

The Novomatic Forum is a building in Vienna at Friedrichstrasse 7 owned by the Novomatic company . Before the acquisition by Novomatic in 2007, it was the headquarters of the Austrian Transport Office .

building

The Art Deco- style building was erected from 1922 to 1923 according to the plans of Otto Wagner students Hermann Aichinger and Heinrich Schmid between Karlsplatz and Naschmarkt, standing alone on a remaining lot. It faces the Viennese secession of Art Nouveau . Both architects later also planned the Bärenmühlenhaus on the opposite side of the street, which is classified as part of classical modernism. The listed former tourist office was renovated from 2008 to 2009 with architect Adolf Straitz and carefully converted from an office building into a cultural center. The ramp for wheelchair users is strikingly new .

As an event location

When it opens in summer 2009, the Novomatic Forum will be made available to the Impulstanz festival .
