Now Hear This is a 1962 American animated short film directed by Chuck Jones .

action

Various noises accompany the credits and a devil is looking for his second horn before a man shouts "Quiet !!!" There is silence. A small yellow dot bounces noisily over the words Silence is Golden , turning the blue word Silence gold. An older man with a green ear trumpet appears and finds a red ear trumpet. He seems to be emitting nicer tones, so he throws his old ear tube into a trash can.

All sorts of strange things happen to the man with the new ear trumpet, beautiful tones are disturbed by everyday noise, a bird makes tones like a music box and shortly afterwards hums at high volume, an egg begins to play trumpet music. Suddenly a telephone rings in the ear trumpet and, when installed in a telephone booth, suddenly becomes a shower, bubbles rise from the ear trumpet and engine noises and shots can be heard. The ear trumpet cannot be used as a record funnel, nor as protection from the rain, as it then rains out of it itself. A long line of notes comes out of the pipe, ties up the old man, and then ignites, ending in a big explosion.

The old man appears on crutches and with bandages and takes his old ear tube out of the trash can. The devil appears and takes the red ear tube and screws it on - it's his second horn. A pink male comes and holds the moral of the story in his hand: “The Other Fellows Trumpet Always Look Greener” (based on “The grass is alway greener on the other side of the fence.” - “The cherries in the neighbor's garden taste good always sweeter. ")
