Nukuʻalofa Tonga Temple
The Nuku'alofa Tonga Temple (formerly Tongan Temple ) is the 25th temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and the 23rd in service. It is located in the middle of Tongatapu , the main island of the island state of Tonga , near Matangiake . The area is commonly referred to as the Liahona after the church's high school . The eponymous capital of Tonga, Nukuʻalofa , is several kilometers away.
architecture
The temple is the only temple of the church in Tonga. Its construction plan is similar to that of the other temples in the South Pacific ( e.g. Apia Samoa Temple , 2005; Papeete Tahiti Temple ) and was built on the model of the modern one - tower temple ( Bern Temple , London Temple ). Most of the construction was carried out by labor missionaries from New Zealand and other South Pacific islands.
The temple stands on a piece of land of 2 hectares, has two Ordinance Rooms and three Sealing Rooms and a total floor space of 1,353.8 m².
