Nuovi Argomenti (1953/5)

Nuovi Argomenti is an influential Italian literary magazine founded in 1953 by Alberto Carocci and Alberto Moravia . A short time later, Pier Paolo Pasolini joined the editorial team, after his death and Carrocci's death, Attilio Bertolucci and Enzo Siciliano continued the work.

The orientation of the magazine was initially strictly Marxist; in the first issue appeared u. a. an introduction by Georg Lukács to the aesthetic writings of Marx and Engels . The publications did not shy away from political confrontations. The author Franco Cagnetta , whose manuscript on the bandit village of Orgosolo was only published in Nuovi Argomenti, risked long legal proceedings.

In the mid-1960s, the political-ideological orientation was given up in favor of a purely literary orientation. Numerous current Italian authors began their careers with publications in the Nuovi Argomenti.

The magazine has been published quarterly by Mondadori since 1998 . The editor has been Dacia Maraini since Enzo Siciliano's death in 2006 . According to the publisher, the circulation is on average 2000 copies.
