Nyoman Masriadi

Nyoman Masriadi (* 1973 in Gianyar , Bali , Indonesia ) is an Indonesian painter.

Life

Masriadi trained at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, the Institute Seni Indonesia (ISI) in Yogyakarta on Java . He is one of the first Balinese artists to move away from the traditional painting style and traditional themes of the artists on his home island. After his first attempts at cubism, he found his own style in which street advertising, caricature and graffiti are mixed. Its larger-than-life, dark-skinned figures, the simple people of Indonesia, are characteristic.

Masriadi has had great commercial success with his paintings since 2008, for example in the same year one of his paintings was sold for more than a million dollars at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong .
