Oľga Algayerová

Oľga Algayerová (born 1959 ) is a Slovak diplomat and has been Head of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) since 2017 .

education

Oľga Algayerová studied at the University of Economics in Bratislava and graduated with a degree in industrial engineering. She holds an MBA from the Open University Business School in the UK and a Masters in Contemporary Diplomacy from the University of Malta .

Career

From 2004 to 2006 Algayerová was responsible for the foreign trade business of Zentiva International . In 2006 she became State Secretary in the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in 2010 she became President of the Slovak Organization for the Millennium Development Goals . From 2012 she was the permanent representative of her country at the international organizations in Vienna , where she worked until 2017.

On April 13, 2017, UN Secretary General António Guterres appointed Oľga Algayerová as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). On June 1, 2017, she took office as the successor to Christian Friis Bach from Denmark .

Private

Algayerová is committed to the goals of International Gender Champions , an association that advocates gender equality in international organizations.
