O team

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

O-Team is a theater collective operating in Berlin , Hamburg , Stuttgart and Munich that was founded in Berlin in 2005. O-Team works in interdisciplinary constellations with performing and visual artists, musicians, graphic artists and architects. The essential pillars of the aesthetic approach are site-specific and process-oriented work. O-Team often short-circuits found fallow places with utopian subjects and aspects of great literary works. In addition to literary productions and performances, O-Team also produces short films, readings and installations. The term “O-Team” is a short form of the former name of the group “Team Odradek”: “ Odradek“Describes a mythical creature that flexibly adapts to its environment.

description

O-Team's artistic work can best be described as a comparison between literary utopias and researched realities. Previous productions played u. a. in the former car repair hall and today's artists' colony of the Stuttgart Wagenhallen ("HermannSchlachten07", 2007), in a former administration building of the Munich company infineon ("Treffpunkt Golgatha", 2008), in the abandoned editorial rooms of the Süddeutsche Zeitung ("Blueprint", 2009) or on the historic farm dairy of the Darmstadt Grand Duke, today's biodynamic farm estate Oberfeld ("Cherry Gardens", 2009). The work always thematized the architectural, economic and social conversion and upheaval processes that it found in the fallow places: The productions dealt with the life plans, the personal and social utopias of the residents who are still or no longer living there. In this sense, the group's artists were repeatedly referred to as “interim users” or “interim use experts”. In fact, as a rule, they not only use the buildings they find, but also use them temporarily and live in them. Their approach makes strong reference to the metaphors of temporary architecture (recycling / reuse of idle resources, “situation potential”, etc.) and is often concerned with urban planning contexts and urbanistic theory. The way O-Team works can also be described as interdisciplinary: beyond the traditional theater horizon of work between director, dramaturge, stage and costume designer, actor, etc., the group repeatedly worked with visual artists and architects. Accordingly, some of the projects arose in a lengthy and initially open-ended process of exchange between the various specialist areas of expertise. For this reason, the group describes itself on its website u. a. also as a “research commission”, which first researches on site, then exchanges theories and ideas in residences and work shops before moving on to the practical artistic production process.

Surname

The group first appeared under the name “O-Team” as part of the “Blueprint” project. In the former editorial offices of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the group founded a fictitious start-up agency which, as a synonym for the group's old name, “Team Odradek” was renamed “O-Team”. On the one hand, “Team Odradek” is intended to show the claim to a group-oriented flat hierarchy within the collective (“Team”). On the other hand, the term “ Odradek ” refers to a mystical mythical creature that Franz Kafka describes in his short story “Die Sorge des Hausvaters”. “Odradek” is therefore a hardly tangible hybrid being that adapts to its environment, is in a constant process of movement.
