WITHOUT the school newspaper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

OHnE has been the school newspaper at the Heinz-Berggruen-Gymnasium in Berlin-Westend since 1997 . It is published completely independently of the school and without the supervision of the teachers by an editorial staff of around 20 and appears twice a year at the school's concerts. The editor-in-chief consists of experienced editors from the middle and upper grades.

history

The OHnE was founded in autumn 1997 against the background of the student protests in Berlin at the time. Initially a black and white DIN A5 booklet, OHnE now appears in color in DIN A4 and professionally laid out in an edition of 700 copies. The newspaper has won numerous awards throughout its history. Between 2005 and 2008, for example, it was honored as the best grammar school newspaper in the Berlin school newspaper competition. The newspaper is also regularly among the winners of the Spiegel school newspaper award. In 2015, the OHnE was honored for its issue on the subject of resistance as the best high school school newspaper in Germany in the school newspaper competition of the federal states. There was also cooperation with other school newspapers such as Glocke (Johann-Philipp-von-Schönborn-Gymnasium, Bad Kissingen) or Kissingenstrasse 12.de (Rosa-Luxemburg-Gymnasium, Berlin).

Surname

The name of the school newspaper is derived from the former name of the school, Erich-Hoepner -Oberschule (EHO for short). The three initial letters, reversed and inserted with an n , result in the name of the school newspaper. Many editions play with it in the title. For example, on the subject of drugs, the newspaper appeared with the headline It doesn’t work anymore .

style

In each issue, OHnE deals specifically with a topic that is viewed from a political, social and cultural point of view. The booklet is divided into the categories title topic , school , society and end . There are also fixed categories such as Teachers WITHOUT Words or The Rumor of the Month . The contributions are often critical and reflect the current thoughts of the students.
