history
In 1911, the Burchard apartment house (Polish: Kamienica Burcharda ) was built on the site of today's high-rise . This building was demolished in 1973 as part of the construction of the central station and the bridge over the Aleje Jerozolimskie . At that time, the space was needed for the temporary diversion of the tram. After relocating the rail route, the property remained undeveloped until the early 1990s.
From 1992 to 1996 the FIM Tower was built by the Italian real estate development company Fortrade Financing SpA in the style of the post-modern US office skyscrapers of the 1980s. Architects were Lorenzo Martinoia, Jacek Sokalski and Amadeo Strada. The skyscraper has 27 floors at a height of 115 meters. There are no basement floors. Of the total of almost 21,000 square meters of usable space, around 14,000 square meters are available as office space. A major tenant in the early years was the Polish telecommunications company Polkomtel (brand: Plus), which had a large logo attached to the top floors. In July 2006 the investment fund "Endurance" of the Luxembourg ORCO group took over the building; In 2008, the new owner underwent a comprehensive renovation, and the high-rise has been called the ORCO Tower since then . The IT company Comarch has been the largest tenant since then .
For the European Football Championship 2012 , the entire high-rise was provided with an advertisement for the sporting goods manufacturer Nike (see photo).
