The Obelisk Mountain is a 2200 m high mountain in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Asgard Range of the Transantarctic Mountains , it looms between the Catspaw Glacier and Mount Odin .
The Australian geologist Thomas Griffith Taylor (1880-1963) led western group of the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) under the direction of the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott gave it the descriptive name because it reminded them of an obelisk .
