The Hyundai Rotem tram without catenary (Korean: 무가 선 저상 트램) is a battery-operated tram from the Hyundai Rotem company . It is the first catenary-free tram series developed by the company. There is currently only one prototype, but this is used for the further development of future catenary-free trams of the company. The type is to be produced in series in the future.

Structure and equipment

This tram model is a bidirectional locomotive . The engine is 29 meters long and consists of five vehicle modules. Under the first and fifth module there is a two-axle power unit. The third module houses a loose wheel drive . The two intermediate modules each have an entrance door, which is implemented as an electromechanically operated pivoting sliding door.

At the terminal stops, the vehicle attaches a pantograph to a charging mast and charges the batteries.

In total, a railcar can carry up to 200 people.

commitment

The Hyundai Rotem is to be delivered to the tram networks in South Korea ( Busan , Dongtan , Suwon , Seongnam , Oido , Bucheon , Wirye , Ulsan and Seoul ) in the future .
