The Ulsan tram will be a new transportation system in Ulsan due to open in 2027. The tram network will consist of four lines. The lines are to be operated with trams without overhead lines from Hyundai Rotem. The tram network is operated by Ulsan Transportation Corporation (UTC).

history

Situation before the first planning

Until the first plans for a tram in Ulsan, the transport system consisted exclusively of pure bus services. But since, as in Busan, the road traffic is heavily used by drivers and bus lines, the bus traffic is to be reduced with the help of the trams and thus the road load is reduced.

First tram line plans (2008-2019)

The first plans for a tram network have existed since 1998. Over the years, however, the plan has been revised several times, so that the fully elaborated tram plan could not be presented until the end of 2019.

Opening of tram lines (from 2027)

All four lines are to be opened in 2027, thus implementing a new transport system.

The tram network is to be operated by overhead trams from Hyundai Rotem . Since 2010, the company has been developing tram models that, like buses in Germany, are charged at the end point and can travel the entire route without additional external energy supply.
