The Hwaseong tram is a planned transportation system in the South Korean city of Hwaseong . The tram network will consist of two lines. The lines are to be operated with trams from Hyundai Rotem. The tram network is operated by Hwaseong Transportation Corporation (HTC).
history
Situation before the first planning
The city of Hwaseong has had new districts built in recent years, one of which is Dongtan. Dongtan's population is rising steadily, so the Hwaseong city council decided to have the implementation of possible tram lines checked.
First tram line plans (2015-2019)
The first plans were presented in mid-June 2015, initially with three lines. After the final revision of the plans, two lines are now planned, whereby the route of two lines of the original plan has been merged. Construction of the tram lines is scheduled to start in 2021. According to the plans, the Dongtan station will become the junction of the new tram lines.
Opening of tram lines (from 2026)
Both tram lines are scheduled to open in 2026. Extensions or new lines are not planned for the time being.

The tram network is to be operated by overhead trams from Hyundai Rotem . Since 2010, the company has been developing tram models that, like buses in Germany, are charged at the end point and can travel the entire route without additional external energy supply.
