The Obermarchtal landscape protection area is a protected landscape area (LSG number 4.25.129) in the area of the municipality of Obermarchtal , which was designated by the Lower Nature Conservation Authority at the Alb-Donau District District Office of July 30, 2004 .
Location and description
The 500.3 hectare protected area is located southeast of Obermarchtal and north of Reutlingendorf . Distinctive components are the Marchbachtal, the upper part of the side valley and the Guckenberg near Reutlingendorf as well as the adjacent wooded Molasse hills. It belongs to the natural area 042 - hill country of the lower crack within the natural spatial main unit 04 - Danube-Iller-Lech-Platte .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is according to the Protected Area Ordinance
- to preserve the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the tertiary hilly landscape with its stream valleys and adjacent molasse hills south of Obermarchtal and Reutlingendorf due to the richly structured landscape and the balanced natural balance;
- to preserve the typical, landscape-defining and ecologically valuable cultural landscape elements such as orchards, field hedges, individual trees, riparian trees, moats, reeds, tall herbaceous vegetation and field edges,
- To preserve unspoilt and aesthetically valuable parts of the tertiary hilly landscape as a locally and regionally important recreational area.
