Obernhausen (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Obernhausen was probably a village in the Taunus . Some authors question the existence of the desert .

history

The place is considered a counterpart to the still existing place Niedernhausen in Hesse . It was first mentioned in a document in 1233 , but, according to the ending -hausen, was created during the Franconian conquest . Obernhausen was probably already given up during the late medieval desert period, as there is no more recent evidence. The village was probably located around the site of today's Niedernhausen forest swimming pool. Still remember the street name Oberhäuser way and some place names to the deserted village.
