Oberto Pallavicino

Oberto Pallavicino (* 1197 ; †  1269 ) was an Italian signor .

Pallavicino loyally supported Emperor Frederick II against the Guelphs and held several imperial posts (including as imperial vicar ). He was next to Ezzelino da Romano one of the leading Ghibellines , but was also involved in the victory over Ezzelino at Cassano (September 6, 1259). Since then he has been the undisputed leader of the imperial Italians and became Podestà of Cremona in 1249 and Captain General of Milan in 1260 . He succeeded in incorporating Alessandria , Pavia , Tortona , Brescia and Piacenza into his sphere of influence, albeit only for a short time.

When Charles of Anjou invaded Lombardy, Pallavicino fought him, but without success. An attempt to gain control of Parma in 1266 failed. Both failed attempts led to the fact that his dominion largely collapsed after 1266 and he died in 1269 on one of his few remaining rural estates.
