Head host
The Oberwirt is a traditional, listed inn in the center of Ramsau near Berchtesgaden . It belongs to the protected ensemble that forms the center of the village of Ramsau and includes, among other things, the neighboring, well-known St. Sebastian Church . The inn was built around 1500 as a prince provost's monastery tavern on the Salzstrasse over the Hirschbichl .

As early as 1500 - and thus in front of the neighboring church - the prince provost of Berchtesgaden built today's Oberwirt as accommodation for the haulers and carters who, among other things, transported salt from the salt pans in Schellenberg and Berchtesgaden over the Hirschbichl into the Pinzgau .
Facilities
The ensemble of the inn comprises three main buildings: the actual inn facing the street with an attached hall, on the opposite side of the street on the eaves a building with a butcher, bank, doctor and hairdresser on the ground floor as well as apartments on the upper floor and a few meters further at the beginning of the Kunterweg a branch.
The stately historical inn itself is three-story with a cantilevered flat gable roof with a gable hatch, stone arched portal, plaster structure and facade paintings. In essence, it dates from around 1500, a coat of arms is marked 1637, the roof ridge 1757.
