The song was written by Dumont, Hal Ritson, James Norton and Jax Jones and produced by Dumont and Jones. It is sung by Boy Matthews. It was released on July 31, 2015 as the first single from the EP Blasé Boys Club Pt. 1 , which started a series of EPs. In September 2015 an EP with five remixes of the song was released. The song is also featured on Dumont's album Duality , which was released in 2020. Musically it is assigned to the genres deep house , nu-disco and pop music and is considered a summer hit . In terms of content, the song is about a breaking relationship, although this is metaphorical is compared to a trip.

Ocean Drive is one of Duke Dumont's greatest achievements to date. The music video on YouTube is also Dumont's most successful to date, with over 500 million views.

Chart placements

In the UK , Ocean Drive reached number 42 on the charts, which was the lowest place in its home country to date. Even so, the single became one of his biggest hits in the long run, and later went platinum like the number one hits Need U (100%) and I Got U. In Australia could Ocean Drive climb to fifth place in New Zealand at No. 14. Although no placement was in the in the United States Billboard Hot 100 reached, however, the song placed on the Hot Dance / Electronic songs as well as first place in the Dance club songs. The single also became a number one hit in Greece and Poland .

Awards for music sales

In the UK, Ocean Drive was awarded a platinum record in 2020 . In Poland, the single was able to achieve diamond status in 2016. Overall, Ocean Drive was awarded two gold, six platinum and one diamond records for over 1.5 million units sold.
