Emil Antoni Ochyra (born July 12, 1936 in Rozbórz , † May 26, 1980 in Warsaw ) was a Polish saber fencer .

successes

Emil Ochyra was world champion with the team in 1959 in Budapest , 1961 in Turin , 1962 in Buenos Aires and 1963 in Gdansk . He also won bronze with her in 1958 in Philadelphia . In the singles he was runner-up in Turin in 1961. He took part in the Olympic Games three times : in 1960 he and the team reached the final in Rome , in which Hungary proved to be the stronger team and won the battle 9: 7, so that Ochyra with Marek Kuszewski , Ryszard Zub , Jerzy Pawłowski , Andrzej Piątkowski and Wojciech Zabłocki received the silver medal. Four years later he won the bronze medal in the team competition in Tokyo with Ryszard Zub, Jerzy Pawłowski, Andrzej Piątkowski and Wojciech Zabłocki. In the semifinals, the Polish team lost to the Soviet Union before winning the battle for third place against France . In the individual, he finished fifth. At the 1968 Olympics , he was eliminated in Mexico City in the quarter-finals of the individual, while he was fifth with the team.
