The owl owl ( Ninox ochracea ) is a species of owl from the genus of the bush owl . Its occurrence is limited to the Indonesian island of Sulawesi and some offshore islands.
description
The length of the small to medium-sized owl is 25 to 29 centimeters. The head and top are dark / maroon. There are white spots on the outer flags of the shoulder feathers and on the wing covers. The underside is yellow-brown, the lower chest and belly gradually transition to ocher-brown with some darker spots. The face is brownish with whitish eyebrows, the eyes yellow, bill and wax skin yellowish / horn-colored. The legs are feathered up to the base of the yellowish / gray toes, the claws are dark / horn-colored.
Way of life
The ocher-bellied owl inhabits dense, moist primary forests and mature secondary forests , including alluvial forests from the lowlands up to an altitude of 1000 meters. The food is mainly made up of insects that are hunted from a hide. The voice consists of series of rough, throaty double sounds krurr-krurr of 1.8 seconds each.

It is rarely found on the islands of Sulawesi, Buton and Peleng .
