Octahedron is the fifth studio album by the American rock band The Mars Volta . It was released worldwide on June 22nd, 2009, but a day later in the US.

Emergence

Octahedron was written by Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (music, arrangement, production) and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (lyrics and vocal lines) and recorded by The Mars Volta Group . In Europe the first single will be “Cotopaxi”, in the USA “Since We've Been Wrong”. The Mars Volta announced Octahedron as their acoustic, quiet album. Singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala comments: “We know how narrow-minded people can be in the way they think, so when you hear the new album you will say this is not an acoustic album […], but this is our version of what we call an acoustic album. "
