Odd Future (abbreviated OFWGKTA , even Wolf Gang ), usually only Odd Future called, was an American hip-hop - group from Los Angeles , California . Rapper Tyler, the Creator was the founder and front man of the group, which he claims had 60 members. The group was managed by Christian and Kelly Clancy.

history

Odd Future formed as a skate group in Los Angeles in 2007 , and they rapped every now and then for fun. The original cast include: Tyler, the Creator (Tyler Okonma), Left Brain (Vyron Turner), Hodgy Beats (Gerard Damien Long), Matt Martians (Matthew Martin), Jasper Dolphin (Davon Wilson) and Casey Veggies (Casey Jones). At some point prior to the release of Bastard , Tyler's Mixtape debut, Brandun DeShay was also working with the group and rapping on one track of Session with Tyler, but they bickered and later DeShay's track was replaced by Mike G. They designed their own website on which they made their self-produced works available for download free of charge. Member Earl Sweatshirt was no longer with the group after the first mixtape of the group until March 2012, because his mother, Cheryl Harris, a professor, had sent him to the Coral Reef Academy , a boarding school for difficult-to-educate boys, so that he would not have any contact to the rest of the collective. Odd Future was independent for a long time, i.e. not under a contract with any major label , he signed a contract with the XL Recordings label for Tyler, the Creators' second album Goblin .

The group's style has often been referred to as horrorcore , but since Odd Future does not see himself as a horrorcore rapper, they said this on Twitter , in interviews and in the song Sandwitches by Tyler, the Creator and Hodgy Beats, in which Tyler "And we don't fucking make horrorcore, you fucking idiots Listen deeper than the music before you put it in a box, Wolf Gang" clarified in the outro. Pitchfork Media then assigned the group to indie rap.

In April 2011 the group founded their own label Odd Future Records. Most of the songs are recorded in a room in the house of two band members, Syd tha Kyd and Taco Bennett, whom they call "The Trap". In 2011 the group was nominated for the O Music Award and the MTV2 Sucker Free Award.

In May 2015, Tyler, The Creator, announced on Twitter that Odd Future had broken up.
