Odile Versois
Odile Versois (born June 14, 1930 in Paris as Tania de Poliakoff-Baïdaroff, † June 23, 1980 in Paris) was a French actress .
Life
Odile Versois was born in Paris in 1930 as the daughter of the opera singer Wladimir de Poliakoff and the dancer Militza Enwald. Both parents came from Russia and emigrated from there to France during the October Revolution . She received training in classical dance and was a member of the Paris Opera Ballet from 1936 to 1946 under the name Tania Baydarova . Then she turned to film and her first role in Les Dernières Vacancesbrought her the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti as best young actress at the age of 18. In the 1950s her career was at its peak and she also got several engagements abroad, first in Italy and later particularly in Great Britain. Odile Versois is remembered by German audiences primarily for her role as the Danish queen, who in Harald Braun's historical drama Rulers without a Crown, a liaison with the influential doctor Dr. Struensee (played by OW Fischer ), who has to pay for it with his life. In the course of the 1960s she appeared rarely on the screen, instead she starred in numerous television productions and also appeared frequently in the theater.
Odile Versois was first married to the actor Jacques Dacqmine and then to Francois Pozzo di Borgo, with whom she had four children. Her sisters Marina Vlady (* 1938), Helene Vallier (1932–1988) and Olga Baidar-Poliakoff (1928–2009) are or were also actresses.
Odile Versois died of cancer in 1980 and is buried in the Russian Orthodox cemetery in the Paris suburb of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois .
