The Odontiinae are a subfamily of the Crambidae within the superfamily of the Pyraloidea . Around 370 species in over 100 genera have been described worldwide. About 30 species in 16 genera also occur in Europe.

features

Within the subfamily there are many species of miners ; H. the caterpillars feed on leaves within duct systems. While other species roll up leaves, eat flowers or buds, or pierce stems and fruits. The family is based on a peculiarity in the male genital apparatus as a monophylum .

Systematics

In Europe there are around 30 species in 16 genera. In Central Europe there are only about 8 to 9 species in 7 genera.
