Banc de Guérande is an offshore wind farm under construction in the Bay of Biscay . The wind farm will consist of 80 wind turbines , which together will have an installed capacity of 480 megawatts . It is the first offshore wind farm in France . Commissioning is planned for 2022.
location
The wind farm is located about 12 kilometers off the coast of Saint-Nazaire and is therefore also known as the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm .
History and construction
In 2016, the permit for the construction of the wind farm was granted. The Sif Group was selected as the supplier for the monopile foundations. The first offshore work is scheduled to begin in spring 2021.
technology
80 GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines with a nominal output of 6.0 megawatts are used. The wind turbines have a rotor diameter of 150.8 m and are manufactured in the GE Wind Energy plant (formerly Alstom ) in Saint-Nazaire. The offshore wind farm should be able to cover 20% of the electricity consumption of the Loire-Atlantique department in the future .
