Loode-Eesti is a planned offshore wind farm in Estonia in the Baltic Sea . It would be the country's first offshore wind farm. The park will have an installed capacity of 700 to 1,100 megawatts, which will be provided by wind turbines with a nominal output of four to seven megawatts each. The start of construction was planned for 2018 [out of date] ; the grid connection could then have taken place in 2020.
The project planner is Nelja Energia . A cooperation agreement between Nelja Energia and the island administration of Hiiumaa has been concluded. This agreement also stipulates that the wind farm is more than twelve kilometers away from the coast, so that the view of beach visitors in the region is not disturbed. Another content of the cooperation agreement is a mandatory underground power grid connection for the island.
