Oflag XD

The Oflag XD was a prisoner of war camp of the Wehrmacht in World War II . The officers' camp in the Hamburg district of Fischbek existed from May 1941 to May 1945.

history

The camp was set up in May 1941 on what was then Reichsstrasse 73 (today's Bundesstrasse 73 ) at the height of Rostweg. All Belgian reserve officers from Oflag II A in Prenzlau were transferred to Fischbek on June 22, 1943. In May 1945 the camp was liberated by British troops from the  7th Armored Division of the 2nd Army .

During their stay incarcerated Freemason of the Grand Orient of Belgium founded the Loge L'Obstinée . Its spokesman was Jean Rey , who later became President of the first European Commission ( Commission Rey ).
