List of Wehrmacht POW camps
The following list gives an overview of the German prisoner-of-war camps of the Wehrmacht in the Second World War on the territory of the German Reich (arranged according to military districts ) and some occupied areas. According to the latest research, there were a total of 1,000 prisoner-of-war camps. The prisoner-of-war camps were very often on the edge of military training areas of the German Wehrmacht . B. in Lambsdorf, Döllersheim, Stablack, Groß Born, Zeithain, Altengrabow, Fallingbostel, Hövelhof and Hammelburg or within historical fortresses such as Königstein, Torgau, Mainz and Metz.
